Fabulous Places To Go On Your Canada Holiday
Every part of Canada has huge amounts to offer:
British Columbia
On the west coast of Canada, British Columbia is Canada's most temperate province and, many would argue, its most beautiful. Its biggest city is the spectacular modern masterpiece of Vancouver, but its capital is the beautiful traditional city of Victoria on Vancouver Island. Vancouver island is a gem, with superb forests, breathtaking beaches, wonderful places to hike and camp, and bears, birds and whales to watch.
On the mainland, Whistler is probably the best mountain destination in Canada for winter sports and summer adventures, the Okanagan Valley is perfect for cycling, hiking and kayaking, as well as wine tasting, the Kootenay Rockies offer more great sports options, and the northern areas are outstanding for watching black and grizzly bears and for fishing.
Wherever you go, the countryside is spectacularly beautiful, with towering mountain peaks, green valleys and chrystal clear lakes.
Alberta
Alberta is the gateway to the Canadian Rockies from the east. It has two major cities, Calgary, the cultural, administrative and entertainment centre, and Edmonton, the place to go for shopping. It is better known for the towns of Banf and Jasper in the Rockies, and for the exquisite Lake Louise.
For skiing, and snow-boarding in winter, hiking, biking and kayaking in summer, and for admiring the majestic beauty of this extraordinary landscape, this is a great place to go. To the east of the Rockies lie the prairies and there is much to see there also, in terms of history and pre-history, as well as traditional cattle ranches and wonderful wildlife refuges.
Like BC, Alberta offers unparalleled beauty and variety.

The Prairie Provinces
Moving further east are the two central Canadian provinces of Saskatchewan and Manitoba. They are less well known to international visitors only because of the incredible pull of their neighbours. They too have plenty to offer.
Winnipeg, the capital of Manitoba is a lovely city with many interesting attractions, most notably its superb Human Rights Museum. Saskatoon and Regina, the two main cities in Saskatchewan are also worth a visit.
The provinces offer vast and beautiful prairie landscapes, thousands of acres or boreal forests, and lakes and rivers in every size and shape. They offer wonderful opportunities for road trips, camping trips, hiking, cycling, kayaking and canoeing. They are particularly excellent for fishing, including ice fishing in winter. And there are wild animals of all sorts to be seen.
Speaking of wild animals, the stand-out feature of these provinces is Churchill, on the Hudson Bay in Manitoba. With fantastic views of the northern lights for up to 300 days a year, and incredible opportunities to see Beluga Whales close up in the bay, the main thing about Churchill is Polar Bears. This is the best place in the world to see these phenomenal creatures, and this truly is a 'bucket list' experience.
Ontario
Home to the Niagra Falls, the most visited destination in Canada, to Toronto, Canada's biggest and shiniest city, and to Ottawa, Canada's federal capital, Ontario is one of the most exciting parts of Canada for a visit.
It is full of of lakes and rivers, and has every sort of water based holiday on offer, from steamboat tours to the world's longest freshwater beach. With carefully cultivated farmlands and many superb wineries, on the one hand, and thousands of acres of nature reserve and wilderness on the other, there really is every sort of holiday available here.

Quebec
Canada's French speaking heartland is Quebec, with its two gorgeous cities of Montréal and Quebec City. They are both full of charm and character and are magical destinations in summer or winter.
But this is also Canada's biggest province, with immense outdoor holiday opportunities to match its size. As well as all the other opportunities, Quebec is particularly good for cycling, with thousands of miles of linked cycle routes. It is also excellent for wildlife viewing, particularly for seeing wolves, caribou and moose. The great St Lawrence river is also a wonderful place for whale watching.
The southern part of the province has excellent wineries, breweries and artisan cheese makers, all of which contribute to the province's particular reputation for culinary excellence.
Atlantic Canada
On the western edge of Canada, and the closest part of North America to the UK, are the four Maritime provinces that make up Atlantic Canada. Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland & Labrador all have their own special offerings for holiday makers.
From wine tasting in the south to iceberg watching in the north, there is phenomenal variety. Halifax, the biggest city offers a lovely historical coastal city experience, and there are lots of charming small cities and towns. There is superb whale watching and amazing bird watching.
Although there are lots of other parts of Canada with great golf courses, prince Edward Island and Cape Breton Island have some of the highest concentration and best quality of golf courses to be found anywhere. And throughout the region the landscapes are incredibly varied and beautiful.
