The West Coast
There are great holiday options with wonderful resorts and hotels all the way up the west coast from the capital, Bridgetown, past Holetown, the oldest town on the island to Speightstown. Attracted by wonderful beaches like Brandon's Beach, Batts Rock Beach, Paynes Bay Beach and Mullins Beach, many of the top quality luxury hotels are to be found along this coast line.
But the towns of Holetown and Speightstown also have plenty to offer visitors.
The South Coast
The south coast, and particularly the south west coast is the most popular area. The southern town of Oistens, and specially the St Lawrence Gap are where the majority of the action is to be found, such as the famed Friday night fish fry!
There is a huge variety of accommodation in this area with every sort of hotel and resort, and most price ranges available.
This is also the area with the most varied options for water sports. There are quiet, protected beaches suitable for children, as well as places for snorkelling, but, where the Caribbean meets the Atlantic there are also great opportunities for wind-surfing and kite-surfing.
Because the Grantly Adams International Airport is in this area, it is also the most accessible and easiest to get to.
The East Coast
There are far fewer options to stay along the east coast, and although there are wild, rugged and beautiful beaches, which are ideal for surfing, they are generally not safe for swimming. For hikers and surfers and those looking for a more wild and windswept holiday this is great option.
When To Go and How To Get There
There are direct flights from the UK, and Barbados is an all year round destination, but the Crop Over Festival, the traditional celebration of the end of the sugar harvest is a great time to experience the vibrancy, friendliness and energy of the local culture. This runs from late June to early August. There are also Jazz, Calypso and Gospel music festivals, as well as sugar and rum festivals to look out for.
Whenever you want to go, whatever you want to do, however you want to experience Barbados, we can find or tailor-make the right option for you.
