The Greatest Golfing Holiday Options

If golfing is your priority the challenge is to choose.

South Africa

South Africa boasts some of the best Championship golf courses in the world, many of them designed by South African golfing legends Gary Player and Ernie Els. They have beautiful views of mountains, coastlines or bushveld.

The Garden Route has enough top quality golf courses that you can fly in, stay in one place and play a different top quality golf course every day for a week.

But there are also superb courses in Cape Town and the Cape Winelands, in KwaZulu Natal, and around Johannesburg and Pretoria, notably the famous courses at Sun City. There are also courses in the lowveld, including one in the Kruger National Park. This means that whatever time of year you are thinking of going there will be good golf weather somewhere in South Africa.

If you don't want to do a self-drive itineraries, there is even a luxury train trip that focuses on golf.

Mauritius & the Seychelles

Mauritius is a golf destination in its own right with an incredible selection of beautiful courses. Many of the hotels offer special packages including complimentary green fees on their own or on other nearby courses. The Seychelles has only one course, but it is an outstanding one!

Either Mauritius or the Seychelles can be easily combined with South Africa into a multi-centre golfing holiday, or you can combine them with each other.

Dubai, Abu Dhabi & Qatar

The Arabian centres of Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Qatar have great golf courses. Dubai is good for a golfing break by itself, with more than enough courses to play every day for a week, or you could combine two or three of the centres for a longer golfing holiday.

The Caribbean

There are several places in the Caribbean that offer great golfing experiences. Jamaica and Barbados both have good courses. So does Puerto Rico. But the best golf course in the Caribbean, and also the largest selection of excellent golf courses is in the Dominican Republic. The Teeth Of The Dog at La Romana is internationally recognised as a superb course and it is part of the Casa de Campo resort that, apart from being a superb luxury resort, also has two other quality golf courses.

Canada

Canada is not thought of as a major golfing destination, but it has great gold courses in every region. If you are looking specifically for a golf holiday in Canada, the place to go would be Prince Edward Island in Atlantic Canada. It is particularly famous for golf. It has more than 25 courses, many of them of outstanding quality. Seriously, you can go there for 10 days and play two top class courses per day! And if those aren't enough, Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia has a whole lot more!
